bad runner

I did something that I should not have done. I am the water guru and am always harping on everyone to stay hydrated. Yesterday I was working outside most of the day and was sweating buckets. I was drinking throughout the day but clearly not enough. This morning I planned on a nice run. I put my gym membership on hold for the month of August, so I couldn’t go to the gym. Instead I went to the track at the lake for a mini-boot camp. I was super unprepared. I brought a water bottle but it is way too heavy to take on a run. Mistake number 1. I had not drank much water prior to leaving the house. Mistake 2. I didn’t wear my headband or my hat. Mistake 3. No sunscreen! Mistake 4. Now I am being punished. I am even more dehydrated than I was this morning and I have a massive headache. I luckily didn’t get sunburned because it was the crack of dawn, but having the sun in my eyes was not fun. But my mini-boot camp was way fun. Here’s the breakdown:

– 2 1/4 mile run at 8:30 minute pace
– walk a few minutes and then 1 set of 10 pushups followed by 1 set of 15 tricep dips
– walk a 1/4 mile and do another set of pushups and dips
– walk a 1/4 mile and 1 set of 20 squats against bench
– walk a 1/4 mile and do another set of squats
– run 1 3/4 mile at 9:30 minute pace

I felt good other than my constant thirst afterward. I have been craving grapes and watermelon all day too. Luckily I was able to get some grapes at the store. The watermelon is on the downswing so there were no really good melons. I did get some really awesom tomatoes, cucumbers, muscadines (like grapes but bigger, not as sweet, tougher shell and a seed; they make really good dessert wine), spinach, Ezekiel bread, orange blossom honey, Soy Chocolate “ice cream” (I needed a treat!), hummus, and bananas.

In moving news, the packing is going well, although it seems like I am running on ice. I was able to find some items that we need to take on the plane. I have gotten a lot of the stuff they are picking up this week together. I’m keeping the incense burning to keep the stress away. The rest of the afternoon I will be deep breathing and working on upping my water intake. Drink your water kids.
