are you free?

I have a strange affinity for classic British sitcoms, so Saturday nights I really enjoy Are You Being Served followed by Keeping Up Appearances. KUA is definitely my favorite, but I enjoy both.
Today has been mentally draining for several reasons. I usually run out of gas on Saturdays and look forward to my time off. Saturdays is usually also the day that I have run out of my meals. I always keep a stash of “microwave meals” on hand for reasons such as this. My favorites are Amy’s Black-eyed Pea, Veggies and Brown Rice, Kashi’s Mango Black Beans, and today I had Healthy Choice’s Sweet Asian Potstickers. It is part of the new “all natural entrees” line and it was good. However, the title of the entree did not happen to mention that I would be breathing fire after consuming! It was super spicy and my delicate palate does not tolerate spicy heat well. Otherwise, the rice and veggies steamed well in the microwave. The veggies were still crisp and the rice was not crunchy. It is not often that I eat “microwaveable prepared foods” but when I do, I still expect delicious flavor and nutrition. So any three of those quick dinners are absolutely acceptable for a substitute meal. In addition to the Healthy Choice meal, today I enjoyed more fruit leather and grapes. Dinner was veggies and the most delicious corn, followed with a small sliver of organic dark chocolate with almonds :).
I decided to take the night off again from exercise. I am a strong believer of if you are not motivated to workout, your body is probably telling you to rest. Of course, that is different if you never workout at all. I will be getting up in the morning for a nice run and hopefully a strength workout in the afternoon. Tomorrow is dog washing day, so the strength may be nixed.

I am putting together my food store list tonight. Sadly there is no Whole Foods trip anytime soon. Publix will be fine though.

I got my Animal, Vegetable, Miracle book today in the mail! It took a long time, but I am glad it is finally here. Reading breaks up the recipe project during my down time. I am still waiting for my cookbook though. I might list my menus out tonight if I get the opportunity…

About OneVeganFoodie

Let's see. I am a certified personal trainer (CPT), group exercise instructor, nutritional counselor, and wellness counselor. My training background focuses mainly on getting overweight populations into shape, but I have worked with people wanting to gain strength/healthy weight and agility. I worked with the Army and the Marines for several years before settling into a civilian lifestyle. I'm still adjusting and I really miss it. I also enjoy coaching non-runners through their first running event. I post my workouts on here but remember that you need to seek medical advice prior to starting a new exercise regimine. I also love food. I've been vegetarian for 10 years and 4 of the last years I have been completely vegan. I love food and I love to cook. I follow a strict diet that I do not recommend for everyone, but I really enjoy as it keeps me healthy and helps me to know what is going into my body.
